If I was presented with a 1 to 5 survey for The Village Builder, I would go off the chart and give them a solid 10 on all counts! That is how impressed my son & I are with the team comprised of Chuck, Bruce, Tom, John, & Peter. They were presented with the challenging task of remodeling our abandoned & derelict house on 51 acres out towards Eddyville. Couple of small problems from the get-go. The bridge to gain access to the property was only crossable by light trucks and there was no water to the house. While beginning the demolition phase of the project, they systematically problem solved both these scenarios, shoring up the bridge from beneath and building sturdy curbs and railings on each side such that a well drilling truck could make it onto the property as well as other heavy equipment and then they had the well dug where we hit good water @ 117′ on the first hole! After that, in a couple of months, they proceeded to trick the place out with new trim and doors everywhere, custom cabinetry, all new kitchen & appliances, paint in & out and new Karndean flooring and carpets. Also impressive were the measures they took to make the house safer in general, including all new cedar railings on the entry deck, a half wall being built down the once open steps to the basement and the replacement of two exterior steps that were the wrong height such that somebody could have easily taken a tumble on them.

I am an absentee-owner living in the Bay area, so it was very important to have high caliber, trustworthy people working on this project and I don’t think we could have possibly done any better than contracting The Village Builder. I have the utmost respect for their product and true craftsmanship. During the summer of 2009, we recognized the need to expand the 1,200 square foot home that we had lived in and personally worked on for 20 years. We realized the scope of this expansion would be more than what would reasonably fit within our time frame as well as stretch our personal capabilities. So we started looking for a contractor who could match our expectations – a pretty tall order from our perspective.

What we found was The Village Builder. Chuck and his crew were amazing! In The Village Builder, we found people who walked us graciously and judiciously through the thought processes from daydream to final design. Along the way they offered suggestions that resulted in an even better floor plan. Once the design went before the city for approval, Chuck’s engineering background and knowledge enabled him to be an effective advocate. He was able to bring to the meeting an improvement that met both the city’s requirements and maintained our desires.

When construction began, we found the crew gracious, friendly, knowledgeable, creative, and capable gentlemen. Their efficiency and willingness to work around and through the amazing array of needs that arose from our still living in the other half of the house continued to make the whole adventure in many ways actually pleasant. At various points during the construction process, the crew also had suggestions which improved the final product. These interactions included a concern for us and our home in the same manner as if it were their own personal houses they were working on.

Our initial expectation of The Village Builder was to do for us the part of this project that was beyond our time and capability. Chuck did that for us, they completed the huge parts of this job that we had contracted for and we were able to move back into the whole house within the time frame that we initially discussed. Our new home is wonderful. Every day we enjoy the improvements and we have Chuck and his crew to thank for it.

It was truly a pleasure to work with Chuck and his crew on our remodel. Chuck made sure that every detail was thought through and to our satisfaction. He gave us a timeline and everything was on schedule. As things came up – as they always do – Chuck never failed us in taking care of the matter. Chuck and his crew were great to work with. I wouldn’t hesitate to use Village Builder for any project, big or small. They are precise, conscientious, and trustworthy!

When we purchased our home five years ago, there were some projects we knew we were going to want to have done in the next couple of years. As luck would have it, we needed to get started earlier than we had planned, and were not really sure what direction we wanted to go. My husband had previous experience with The Village Builder and was very satisfied; so we gave Chuck a call. He very quickly assembled plans to replace our deck with the cost estimates. He walked us through each step we needed to take, provided us an accurate timeline, and ensured we were constantly included in the process. We didn’t really want any big changes from the size of our previous deck and were unsure of changes to the design. With Chuck’s assistance, and excellent ideas, our new deck modeled the shape of the previous one but with many design changes which greatly enhanced our view and general enjoyment of the improvement.

We were so happy with The Village Builder, and his very able crew, that we invited them back for two more projects: another deck and the conversion of some unused space into a fabulous office. Whether they were working inside our home or out, we very much appreciated the workmanship of the crew, their reliability, and non-intrusiveness in our busy schedules.

We do have more project plans in the future and look forward to working with The Village Builder again.

Recently we hired The Village Builder for a remodeling project for our home. They installed a new window, new sink, and hardware, new countertop and did some cabinet work, painting, and repairs in our kitchen. A variety of other work in other rooms of our home and outdoor repairs and refinishing were also included in our contract.

We were very pleased with the extremely thorough planning and contract preparation. Our interactions with The Village Builder staff were always pleasant. Everyone on the team treated us with respect, work was completed in a timely manner and with very high-quality craftsmanship. Choosing them was very much to our satisfaction. Our beautiful home is even more beautiful now!

We’ve hired a number of local contractors over the years for remodels, but never before had the problem-free, excellent results and kindness that we experienced with The Village Builder. We would highly recommend The Village Builder to our friends and other people.

My wife and I had to have a new set of banisters installed after a recent remodel. Our project was complicated by the design of the stairs and some strict refinancing time constraints placed on us by our bank. Chuck and Bruce spent nearly three hours the first day taking measurements and coming up with strategies to make the banisters work. Chuck is one of the most thorough individuals I have ever met and provided us with an extremely detailed estimate very quickly after the initial interview. Once work began, Bruce, Chuck’s foreman, was on site like clockwork every day from beginning to end. We told Chuck and Bruce about the refinancing deadline and the entire Village Builder team worked very hard to meet that deadline. Chuck even went above and beyond by meeting me at the bank on our closing day to sign completion papers.

The finished product is some of the best quality woodworking I’ve ever seen. It has amazing attention to detail and looks excellent. For example, one of the bannisters is divided into three sections so that it can make a 180 at the top of the stairs and connect with a second floor half-wall. Bruce managed to measure the railing so that all three sections are made from the same piece of wood and the grain pattern continues from piece to piece around the corner. I highly recommend Chuck, Bruce, and everyone at The Village Builder with the utmost enthusiasm.

We had a great time building our house. Chuck Noone and his Village Builder crew are intelligent, experienced, personable builders with good problem-solving skills and a sense of artistry. They know how custom homes should look.

We wanted to build a sustainable house with Rastra blocks, a rarely used material in this country. Chuck consulted his crew and they decided they were open to new ideas and interested in learning other ways of building. They did the research needed and everything went smoothly.

Chuck followed his original contract; any extra plans were our idea. He and our architect John Koch worked well together.

All of the Village Builder crew are craftsmen. Bruce McVicar made us a beautiful stairway banister and a window seat and bench to match. He then carried out our design of a tall maple tree to go on the curved stairway wall.

We highly recommend The Village Builder.

Village Builder did a fantastic job in replacing a 30-year-old wood deck in our backyard and constructing a new one…exactly as we wanted. My husband had designed and built the original and we love it, but time took its toll

Chuck Noone, owner of Village Builder, and his crew, did an outstanding job – very professional and efficient. We love it!

My husband and I highly recommend them.

Joan and I would like to thank you and Bruce for the beautiful window seat designed and built by The Village Builder. The craftsmanship was outstanding and we could not be happier about the finished product. We agree with Bruce’s comment when he said, “It looks like it was part of the original construction when the home was built.

In short, I am glad Joan decided to bid on your donation to the Philomath Rotary Club. The Salmon & Jazz event was a success because of generous businesses like The Village Builder. Your donation became a success for our home improvement goal. The new window seat in our home is wonderful and we will contact you when considering any future construction projects.

Sincerely,

— Dan and Joan Forbess
